Hello, Members and Friends of GVAL!

Last season our meetings were all conducted on Zoom. This year, thanks to several of our talented board members, we are able to offer hybrid meetings, which allow our members the choice of attending meetings either in person or virtually through Zoom. The monthly meetings begin at 6:30 pm in the Neely Room at HD South. If you are thinking about becoming a member, we would love to have you as our guest at a meeting so you can get to know us! November 4th GVAL Monthly Meeting
We are excited to have Anton Nowels back as the presenter for our Monthly Meeting on November 4th. Back by popular demand, Anton will build on last month's value demo by giving us a presentation around color and the importance that warm and cool have in creating time of day and mood. October Monthly Meeting

Our October Monthly Meeting was a great success! Our presenter, Anton Nowels, did an amazing job demonstrating the importance of values. He used four values from black to white to demonstrate the huge part they play in telling the story of the painting. In a landscape painting, the values can indicate the time of day and the weather, as well as the mood you want to create for the viewer. You can find out more about Anton and his workshops HERE.

GVAL Member Show Oct 23th-Nov 20th

Each fall, GVAL members are invited to hang several pieces of their original art in Gallery 4 at HD South, Home of the Gilbert Museum. Many of the pieces are offered for sale. You can view the show beginning October 23rd through November 20th. Gallery 4 is open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 9am to 4pm. The show can also be viewed on our website gval.org.

Small Works Sale Nov 20th

Are you going to be attending the Gilbert Days parade and festivities on Nov. 20th? If so, you're in luck! GVAL will be offering original small works for sale outside HD South, Home of the Gilbert Historical Museum. Each piece of artwork will be offered at just $20. Part of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go to GVAL and part to HD South. Click HERE for directions and a map! See you there!

November Calendar

The GVAL Member Show opens in Gallery 4 at HD South on October 23rd. It will be available for viewing from 9am to 4pm each Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday through November 20th, 2021. The show will also be available on our website gval.org through December 2nd.

Saturday Nov. 20^th

Small works fundraiser outside HD South beginning at 8:30 am. Bring paintings to the Nov. meeting or to HD South on Saturday morning.

Sunday Nov. 21^st

Pick up your art from the Member Show from 5-6pm at Gallery 4 at HD South.

Congratulations to Take Five Artists on their gallery showing at University Club of Phoenix! Rosalie, Liz, Nancy and Sharon are all GVAL members.
