Student Fine Art Award

Gilbert Visual Art League is extending an invitation to all qualified Gilbert high school juniors and seniors to apply for the annual Student Fine Art Award.

Purpose of the Student Fine Art Award

The purpose of the Gilbert Visual Art League (GVAL) Student Fine Art Award is to provide recognition, encouragement and a monetary award to young artists, who are high school seniors in the Gilbert community and who have demonstrated strong interests in pursuing education in the visual fine arts.

The GVAL Student Fine Art Award is given without regard to race, sex, religion, age, national origin or sexual orientation. GVAL will not issue awards to applicants who are not qualified and reserves the right not to issue an award in a given year.

What Is the Student Fine Art Award?

A $250 award given to the most qualified applicant. The recipient shall be invited to exhibit his/her art in the GVAL Annual Juried Fine Arts Show held in March. The artwork will be exhibited according to the fine art show criteria.

Application Requirements

To be considered for a GVAL Student Fine Art Award, applicant must complete an application form and all application requirements and return them to GVAL by the stated application date. For detailed award requirements and submission guidelines:

The applicant must include:

  1. A completed application form and required documents.
  2. A 350 to 550 word artist statement from applicant.
  3. Demonstration of artistic talent (samples of art work).

If applicant is selected as winner, art chosen to exhibit in the GVAL Fine Art Show must not exceed in size 34″  FRAMED on any side.
