There has been some discussion recently as to derivative works, and what is legal in the U.S. Attached is Circular 14, prepared by the U.S. Copyright Office, that explains a bit about derivative works.

My apologies to Ms Grover; her notification ended up in junk mail months ago, so I’m posting it now (so very late) so that any members that didn’t know about this get to see it.
I received a call yesterday from Sony Pictures Television yesterday requesting the use of one of my current hanging pictures at the Court House. They will be using “the Red Cactus” in part of the scenery for a pilot film they are making at the court house later in the week. This is a two hour long pilot and will be seen on Spike cable network. The program will be called S.I.S. Canterbury Productions, Inc. The producer Neal Moritz (”I AM LEGEND”) and writer/director John Herzfeld (”2 DAYS IN THE VALLEY”). This was quite a surprise for me. I have just sent the release for permission to use my picture.
K. Grover

I’m retired after being in the computer industry for over 40 years. One of my life’s desires is to be a photographer. So, about a year ago I started working towards the goal of producing high quality photography. Our mission is to provide high quality images that are pleasing to the eye, by changing ordinary photographs into fine works of art. Providing pieces you’d be proud to display in your home, or business. My wife is also retired, and we both live in Arizona, USA enjoying the fruits of our labors.
Samples of my work can be seen at www.lenzphotoshop.ifp3.com and you can reach me at gemlenz@cox.net.
