K. Grover received a call from Sony Pictures Television yesterday requesting the use of one of her artworks currently hanging in the Gilbert Court House. They will be using “The Red Cactus” as part of the scenery for a pilot film they are making at the court house later in the week. This is a two hour long pilot and will be seen on Spike cable network.
The program is called “S.I.S.”, produced by Canterbury Productions, Inc.; producer Neal Moritz (”I Am Legend”) and writer/director John Herzfeld (”2 Days in the Valley”).
This was quite a surprise for Ms. Grover, and we are pleased to see her work receiving this exposure. Congratulations!
Ten of K. Grover’s paintings have been hung in the Gilbert Court House. This is great exposure, and we congratulate one of GVAL’s contributing members! These works should be on display for about six weeks.
Jean Smith will be offering two art classes. The first will meet on Monday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm starting on Feb. 4th. This class will include drawing and painting. Members of the class are welcome to work with the medium of their choice and can work from their own source or from a still life set up in class.
A second similar class will be available on Wednesday mornings from 10:00 - 1:00.
The classes are $90 for six weeks.
The first 30 – 45 minutes of each class will be devoted to instruction and the balance of the time will be working on your own with individual direction covering all media. Jean plans to address such things as composition, value, placement and color theory.
Jean may offer classes at other times as well.
